New York City restaurants may have almost every cuisine in the world represented, but top draws among tourists and locals this summer were those serving standbys such as burgers, sandwiches and bagels.
According to a TripAdvisor tally of the most visited New York restaurants during July through September this year, iconic New York restaurants Balthazar, Katz’s Deli, and Tavern on the Green were the Top 3 most-popular draws among hungry tourists and New Yorkers.
Rounding out the Top 5 were Pershing Square, with its unique location at Grand Central Terminal, and BG Restaurant on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman, featuring Central Park views.
Burger chain Shake Shack (NYSE: SHAK) appears a surprising three times in the Top 20, with locations at 86th St., Columbus Ave. and Madison Square Park. Breakfasts also were popular, with strong showings by Ess-a-Bagel, Best Bagel and Coffee and Sarabeth’s Central Park South.
French brasserie Balthazar was also the most popular restaurant among tourists, followed by Katz’s Deli and Hard Rock Cafe. Locals, however, flocked to Pershing Square, Financial District watering hole The Dead Rabbit and the Shake Shack’s Upper East Side location.
